1. Check the supplier offering lists are reputable (check to see if colleagues or associates can recommend a trusted supplier they have used before).
  2. The criteria you require is on the list e.g. correct job titles, industry types, Geographical areas.
  3. The list is up to date – anything older than 12 months will have a very high %age of gone-aways (4 months is the industry norm).
  4. Always read the terms and conditions supplied by the data company and ensure you abide by their rules when re-contacting prospects (how many times are you able to contact them?)
  5. Check to see if any of the contacts have opted into The Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS)whereby corporate subscribers (see definition below) can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to either all their organisation’s telephone numbers, or to certain numbers. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the CTPS. Visit their website for more information.
